In Part Two of our two-part blog series, we’ll continue discussing the nine tactics for finding and keeping good drivers. Click here to read Part One.

  1. SolutionsOLT3Get better at onboarding: Orientation needs to be about more than making sure new drivers are familiar with procedures, rules and regulations.
  2. Improve driver health: More companies are offering programs to help drivers become healthier, such as on-site gyms, exercise equipment in the truck, healthy eating and weight-loss programs, and health screenings.
  3. Driver home time: The driver fleets that enjoy low turnover are the ones who give their drivers an ample amount of at-home time.
  4. Get problems solved quickly: Don’t let drivers or any team members leave the building with unresolved issues; they will only get worse as time goes on.
  5. Keep it simple: Don’t take on more than you can handle; implement one idea at a time and build from there.

Even though hiring good drivers is important, training them is equally important. Sometimes the best drivers are the ones you mold yourself. Online training programs can be a highly effective method for doing this. Click here to learn more about these programs.
